Eligibility
To be eligible to file for office, an individual must meet the following requirements: 

• Be an eligible voter
• Be 21 years of age or will be on assuming the office
• Have maintained residence in the district from which the candidate seeks election for 30 days before the general election

Filing Dates
The following dates are in accordance with Minnesota statutes:

• Candidate filing opens on July 31, 2012
• Candidate filing closes on August 14, 2012 at 5:00 pm
• Withdrawal deadline is August 16, 2012 at 5:00 pm
• Terms begin on January 7, 2013

Offices
The following are elective offices for the City of Excelsior, which will appear on the November 6, 2012, general election ballot.

Mayor         

• Term: Two years
• Salary: $300/month
• Filing Fee: $4

Councilmember (Two Positions)

• Term: Four years
• Salary: $200/month
• Filing Fee: $4

Councilmember (One Position - Special Election)

• Term: Two years (Term begins following contest period)
• Salary: $200/month
• Filing Fee: $4
