With the significant snowfall over the past month, street widths have become too narrow to accommodate parking on both sides of the street in some areas. In order to ensure access for emergency vehicles and personnel, some streets may be posted “No Parking” on one side by the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department. Here is the pertinent City Code:
Sec. 32-41. - Prohibitions; stopping and parking.
No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic control device, in any of the following places:
(18) Police order. No person shall park any vehicle where temporary signs are posted reading "No Parking Police Order," as long as such signs are in place;
The Public Works Department is working to remove snow on the streets that have significantly narrowed. Property owners are being asked to utilize off-street parking facilities in these areas, if available, and to abide by the “No Parking” signage that is being posted.
As snow removal operations are conducted and streets are widened, signage will be removed and parking will be allowed.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to maintain safe passage ways throughout the City.
