Swimming in Excelsior

The swimming beach at The Commons is open seven days a week and is "swim at your own risk" with no lifeguards on duty for the summer of 2020.  As a safety measure for staff and residents with the COVID-19 pandemic, restrooms are closed for the season and a porta-potty has been put on-site for emergency use only.  

Location & Hours

The beach is located at The Commons and is open to the public from mid-June to mid-August. No lifeguards are on duty at this beach for the summer of 2020 and it is "swim at your own risk".  As a safety measure for staff and residents with the COVID-19 pandemic, restrooms are closed for the season and a porta-potty has been put on-site for emergency use only.  

Water Sampling & Analysis

Hennepin County monitors the beach by sampling and analyzing the water to make sure it is safe for swimming. You can view a public beach map showing openings and closings on the Hennepin County Website.
